The Canny is the CAN interface developed by Lazer
If your car uses CAN communication systems and it is not possible, for example, to pick up 12V lighting signals at the back of the vehicle's headlight, this is your solution.
Every car has CAN-HIi and a CAN-Lo wires in the car. That's where you connect the Canny. The Canny in turn has 4 output wires that are programmable to respond to different signals. For example, high beam, position light, ignition, reverse, etc.
What does the Canny system consist of
The system consists of a Canny Dongle and a wiring harness. The system is supported by a special app (CANNY.LZR) that allows you to pair your vehicle and then assign the various functions of the lights.
The system is robustly built so you can mount it in the engine compartment of your vehicle. It can also be mounted inside the vehicle, of course. Over-the-air Bluetooth synchronization and updates promote the system's ease of use and speed of installation.
The dongle features an automotive-standard Molex connector, giving you an IP68 waterproof solution. During development, Lazer took into account that the design should be such that it is easy to mount. Placement of the unit in the engine compartment is preferred for ease of installation, but depends on the location of the CAN Hi / CAN Lo wires on each vehicle.
Connection to the vehicle's CAN cables is made via the supplied wiring harness, with the blue (CAN Hi) and yellow (CAN Lo) wires supplied with heat-resistant automotive heat shrink tubing. This makes a waterproof connection. The supplied wiring harness also includes a fused positive battery connection and a ground wire. In addition, there are 4 output wires, each programmable to respond to different inputs: high beam, position light, ignition, reverse, etc.. This wiring is of course fully compatible with sets from Lazer and others (where the required output is >1 Amp).
Activation, synchronization and ongoing updates of the Canny Dongle are done via the app. After gaining full access via the unique serial number and PIN on your device, you can then access installation guides for your vehicle even before you have paired the device with the vehicle. With it, you can assign and test the various lighting functions. And suppose your vehicle's manufacturer updates the CAN system and the vehicle's basic settings have changed, you can load updates again via Bluetooth.
